Original Release Notes:
Mark has been a stalwart of the east Midlands’s folk and acoustic scene for many years. He has been a member of various bands including Five Go Off originally a comedy band who made the transformation to one of Nottingham’s best folk rock and roots dance bands.
Mark spent the last few months of 2002 recording his first solo CD. The producer has been Steve Bailey of Five go Off, hot Irish band Redstart and ClearJar Records who also played on the album and generally kept things together. Made Up Songs
Mark says: ‘I never intended to make up songs but once I started I couldn’t stop. I can’t wait to get out and play the songs to a wider audience. Steve (Bailey) and Nick (Shephard), who post produced, have got a big, tight sound out of a CD made on a tight budget ‘
The album comprises 13 totally new and original tracks; it is in an acoustic / folk rock vein but covers a lot of musical territory, from the stark contemporary Lion to Lamb to the epic immigration story Read the Names to the tongue in cheek Groovy Song. Playing great support on the CD are some of the best acoustic musicians in the East Midlands.
